Paper sharing presentation sessions
-
to change to knowledge sharing
-
can include any specific knowledge that you have gained recently that you think might be useful to the team
-
or can be about a new paper that you read, that you think is interesting
-
or it can be something that you are working on now that you would like input from others
Essentially purpose is to:
-
Share your own domain knowledge
-
Learn from others
-
Improve the team understanding on AI holistically
-
Keep up to date with recent trends
First meeting (15 thurs)
-
to share on this new proposed format (with more input from febin)
-
i came up with the skeleton first, see what everyone thinks
-
since febin was on leave past few days
Purpose:
-
Share knowledge that individual team members have gained recently
- Cross discipline team, each with own competencies
-
Learn from the experience of other team members
- So that we can leverage on that experience if we face similar problems in the future
-
Keep up to date with recent trends
- AI is a fast moving field, need to stay up to date or will be left behind!
Method:
-
Instead of “Paper Sharing”, change to “Knowledge Sharing” to be more generic. Since purpose is not mainly about sharing papers like a journal club.
-
1 hour session, bi-weekly
-
Discussion rather than pure presentation?
- Still needs to have a presentation first, to cover what you already know / give the context
- To send material to the team by the day before your session (doesn’t need to be slides, can be a link to paper / tool)
- No fixed presentation duration / number of slides
-
Randomly rostered schedule (will be arranged by Febin + Darius in advance)
- 7?, 8? (incl Eric), 10? (incl mithun, sagar)
- If 8 pax, will last 4 months before restarting the roster, each person present 3 x /year
- If 10, will last 5 months ⇒ each person present 2 - 3 x / year
- If need for a swap due to project schedule, team members can internally swap with others
-
Topics can either be: research, engineering or administrative(?) presentations.
- Research Examples:
- New paper that you found that you think is interesting and potentially useful in your own field of work
- Your own ways of staying up to date in AI knowledge, how to discover new SOTA methods? How to effectively do research?
- A research problem that you are facing now, what you have been doing to solve it, what you think are the potential pitfalls - can get input from the rest to leverage on their experience if they have faced similar issues in the past
- Research Examples:
-
Engineering Examples:
- New tools / libraries that have been released recently that you tried using that might be helpful to others
- Be it for AI, Software engineering
- Or usage of a tool / library that you know others in the team have yet to experiment with
- Some process that you recently figured out that might be helpful to others
- An engineering problem that you are facing now, what you have been doing to solve it, what you think are the potential pitfalls - can get input from the rest to leverage on their experience if they have faced similar issues in the past
- New tools / libraries that have been released recently that you tried using that might be helpful to others
-
Admin(?) examples:
- Dry run presentation for He[a]t exchange?
- How to navigate the Contivation ID process?
- Ways to improve yourself as an AI Specialist / Engineer? (e.g. for more senior team members, what are some best practices / mindsets / habits that you think everyone should have?)
-
Ideally, team members should present different categories of topics each time, e.g. if 2 presentations / year, 1 on research, 1 on engineering
-
Knowledge management
- Saw that previously there was a sharepoint with the papers / presentations uploaded there
- Continue? / Use a onenote notebook? / Use confluence?
